Waiting Room Wisdom (Part 12)
We’re going to be continuing on and possibly finishing up our series titled Waiting Room Wisdom. If you haven’t been with us on this journey, you’ve got to embark on it at some point in time and catch up with us. Get everything God has for us during this series because there’s been no series that He has expounded on like this one. That’s not a coincidence. God is a God of purpose. He’s a God of planning. It’s not an accident or coincidence that God has the series that is imparting to us wisdom as the longest series so far in our entire journey on this show.
If you haven’t had the time yet or you haven’t had the opportunity to go back and read everything in this series, I strongly encourage you to do so. Let God impart that wisdom for you that you either need now or in the days to come and possibly even help someone else now or in the days to come. I want to encourage you to do that in those who’ve been reading to read again. Faith comes by reading and reading the word of Christ. It’s not about reading once or twice. It’s about a lifestyle of reading and a lifestyle of living at the feet of our savior Jesus. Before we get into what God has for us, let’s take a moment and do what we always do. Let’s acknowledge God and ask him a right for wisdom to understand what he’s saying and enlightenment.
I thank you, Heavenly Father for the opportunity to get at the feet of your Son, Jesus, and hear His word. I thank you, Lord, that you are given to each and every one of us the spirit of wisdom and revelation all the more in the knowledge of Jesus. I thank you, God, that you are enlightening our understanding that we may know what is the hope of his calling. What are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in us, His saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe according to the working of His mighty power? I thank you, God, you’ve given to each one of us a measure of faith and that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of Christ. I thank you, Jesus, that it will be all of you and none of me expounding on the scriptures and unveiling to us about the things concerning yourself. I thank you for causing us to comprehend the scripture. I thank you, God, that as we behold Jesus, we are being transformed by your Holy Spirit into His same image in an effortless manner. I thank you, God, that we will go back and the problems and the enemies that were there will not be the same anymore or they will be utterly and completely removed both now and forevermore. In Jesus’ name, we pray and come in agreement.
If you’ve been with us, you know that our key scripture comes from Proverbs 4:7. This is out of the new King James Version. Wisdom is a principal thing therefore get wisdom and understanding. I believe that this show series out of all of them has been the one that God has expounded on the most. It’s the one with the most episodes in a particular series. It’s not an accident, that’s intended by God. I felt not to rush and even as I prepared saying, “This will possibly be the end of it.” God kept expounding, elaborating, and adding to it and far be it from me that He wants to give to me and to you. I hinder Him or block Him in the interest of time. That’s not going to happen and let’s pray that He keeps me and that never happens, in Jesus’ name. To recap a bit, God was speaking to us about what we should do while we’re in the waiting room.
Remember that waiting room is that place from where you get the promise from God, whether you’ve gotten a prophetic word or He has given you a dream or spoke something to you, or whether you lay hold of a promise that’s in the written word of God. Remember all the promises of God are yes and in Christ, they are Amen to the glory of God. For born again believers, every promise of God from Genesis to Revelation is yes. You don’t have to say, “God, are you going to do it?” You don’t have to be like the leper that was saying, “Jesus, I know Lord, you’re able and you have the power to heal me, but I’m not sure whether or not you’ll use that power to heal me.” I know you’re willing but the question is, “Are you able?” For the born again, believer there is no question.
God has removed that question mark like he’s removed that veil. As sure as He did that is assurance as He removed the question mark. The answer is yes. What will you believe God for? What will you endure through those times of waiting for is the real question because there’s no question of his faithfulness and that every promise of His is a yes. In Christ, it’s Amen and beloved, you’re born again. You’re a child of God. You are in Christ. It’s wonderful news for you. For those who are laying claim to a promise and believing God for it, we know that sometimes these promises manifest instantaneously. It’s straight away immediately. I’m talking about like you haven’t even gotten it out in a formal prayer. It could be a thought that you had and it manifests, but there are other times that we know this and being realistic that you pray for something or lay hold of a promise of God and believe him for it.
It doesn’t manifest in the earth as it is in heaven instantaneously. That doesn’t happen all the time. There’ll be a period of waiting for God and He is teaching us what to do in that waiting room. In that waiting room representing place between the promise has been made and then possessing that promise that in-between place. That’s the place that God has spoken to us the most about. It is with certainty that I know God wants us to possess the promise. Remember in John 15, Jesus tells us God is glorified. When we bear much fruit, when we ask and our desires are fulfilled, when we believe God for a promise and it manifests. I’m paraphrasing but if you read that, I believe God will draw that revelation from that particular passage of scripture and give it to you even greater than he’s given it to me because indeed it is true and it is written.
Prepare To Receive
We’re talking before about what it is we should do. We spent several weeks with God talking about what we shouldn’t do and that we shouldn’t wait to celebrate. Another one of the key scriptures God gave us came out of Isaiah 54. God told us what we should do, one of the things we should affirmatively do is we should prepare for the blessings. We should prepare for the manifestation of the promises that God has made us. God said in no uncertain terms, “Faith will have you ready.” One way to test whether or not you are believing God, whether or not you are walking by faith and not by sight is to test whether or not you’re ready when the promise comes. You’re stuck and you’re left like someone caught with their pants down, in shock, or like, “Goodness.”
There’s a parable that came to my mind. I’m not sure where it’s at in the gospels but when the ladies had their lamps and they had oil. Several of them were ready but there was at least one if I recall correctly that didn’t have any oil in her lamp and it’s like, “Jesus is here now.” She’s caught with her pants down and you need the oil in your lamp and this is not the time to be like, “Can I borrow some of your oil?” No way, we’re ready to go, wheels up at six. You don’t have your oil and you’re left behind. It’s important for us to be ready and the fruit of faith is readiness, not standing there in shock. You’ll know whether or not you have faith in God because you’ll be taking heat to what He is telling you and you’ll take heat to this wisdom.
You won’t be a hearer of the word reading the blog, but you’ll also be a doer of the word. You are going to prepare for your blessings. I’m believing you are wise enough to get ready and prepare. We looked at one example of the children of Israel. It looks like the Holy Spirit gave us another one with the ladies with the oil and the lady who didn’t have her oil in her lamp. He gave us one before with the children of Israel on the night of the Passover. They were ready in many ways. They didn’t hear the word of God they did but in some ways, they were not ready. God told them when they partook of the Passover lamb, which is a shadow of the true Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and the Lord’s Supper, which is the substance.
That’s what we do. We take the Lord’s Supper. The bread and drink from the cup and when they did this, in the shadow version of Jesus as the Lamb of God, they were delivered suddenly. After hundreds of years of bondage, these people are suddenly set free. God said, “I’m still the God of suddenly.” They were set free, they’re delivered, they are rich and there’s none feeble. Everybody’s healthy, everybody’s strong from the young to the elderly, and they’re well on their way to this land flowing with milk and honey. They didn’t have to lift one finger to fight. They fed on a picture or the shadow of the Lamb of God. God did all the fighting for them and these people became millionaires instantly.
The God Of Suddenly
In case you’re thinking like, “No way and it’s not possible.” I’m not encouraging anyone to get a lottery ticket whatsoever but that’s something that God did for me and allow me to become a multimillionaire overnight. That did happen. I didn’t scratch a lottery ticket and I wasn’t even going after riches. I was not diligently trying to be rich, I was not saving, I had no 401(k) plan, I had no savvy investments, and I wasn’t a savvy investor at least that I knew of. God is still the God of suddenly, the suddenly not like you went from A to B but he’s the God of suddenly like you go from A to Z in one touch from God. It’s possible. I’m a more modern-day version of it but even in reading the Bible, you can’t read this thing like it’s just a historical book. Reading the Bible is opening the heart of God and letting Him read you but getting to know God.
He is from everlasting to everlasting, but He is, I am that I am. He’s present, He is the end, alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, and He’s the first and the last. He was and He is to come. There’s no such thing as it being older, not relevant, it was relevant. He is relevant and he’s always going to be most relevant. Don’t read it like a history book, although God uses this history to reveal himself. We’re open to epistles and He’s using us. I have my story in written form as well that the Holy Spirit wrote through me. That is my life poured out on those pages but for the purpose like the Bible for people to get to know God through my life.
It’s not that I’m that interesting or that important is the God who reveals Himself through me has chosen me as a vessel to do that through. That’s what makes the book good and that’s what makes the book worthy. It’s not that I’m in any way better than anyone else. If they under this shadow were able to obtain a sudden deliverance, strong holes that were there for hundreds of years. I know people have watched family members struggle and maybe even themselves with addictions or bad habits and things like that. It may be even for over decades have passed and you feel like that’s some time to watch that and it is sometimes. I know God is compassionate towards you even I feel merciful and compassionate towards you.
These people were hundreds of years in bondage and in an instant, no twelve-step program. They didn’t need a good lawyer. No one had to try and resurrect Johnnie Cochran to get away from fair role. These people didn’t have to lift a finger. They fed on the shadow of Jesus Christ and all those miracles took place for them in an instant. Hundreds of years of bondage were broken in an instant. I’m wondering what will happen if we partake of the Lord’s Supper. What’s happening? What are we believing God for in an instant? I didn’t say it. God said it, “I am still the God of suddenly. I’m the same yesterday, today and forever.”
What I am saying is what you should be saying is Amen. “Be it unto me according to your word,” that’s what Mary said. She gave birth to the Messiah without ever laying down with the man. You tell me that with God, all things are possible. You can’t tell me that I know it’s true, with Him all things are possible. We also briefly took a look but didn’t finish up and I’ll still go through it about Noah. He was somebody who God used to show us and demonstrate to us what it looks like when somebody has that faith that God is talking about. That faith has them ready. Real faith in God will have you ready and Noah had some real faith in God because God explained to him as to why the flood briefly.
You should read that for sure because there’s been a lot of misconception in the church regarding what happened with that particular flood. It’s good to take a read, especially for that part to those of you who haven’t or weren’t with us before. God told Noah in order to save mankind and he was protecting the seed that was to come, Jesus Christ, the promised seed. For our own salvation and sake, thank God He came, the Messiah. He told Noah to prepare an arc because the flood’s coming. It’s going to destroy the whole earth. God waited patiently. The only people who were saved were Noah and his family. I think Noah was probably even mocked heavily in his preparation time.
Think that’s not strange if everybody doesn’t have the faith that you have to believe God and prepare for the promise. Most of the people in Noah’s didn’t prepare and they perished. Don’t let it discourage you if people are looking at you funny, or like we say, “Where I come from Chicago, looking at you sideways,” that’s what we call it. They got this strange perplexed look on you. Without saying a word, you can read their face and you know it’s not good. Don’t be discouraged by their faces. Don’t be afraid of their faces. That’s even what God told Jeremiah. Don’t let their faces discourage you, beloved God is saying the same thing now. We know that Noah did believe God. He prepared that arc as God instructed him to do. Noah and his entire family were saved and perfectly protected from death and destruction.
Move In Faith
That’s the power of the faith that has you ready, true faith in God. God, Himself not Siohvaughn is boasting about Noah’s faith. We know that God himself boasted in Hebrews 11:7 where some call the hall of faith or refer to it that way. It said, “By faith, Noah being divinely warned of things not yet seen and moved with godly fear.” Jesus taught us that fear, the fear of the Lord is worship. He prepared an ark for the saving of his household by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness.
When the Bible talks about the righteousness, God is talking about the righteousness of God which is righteousness by faith, not working the law because the Bible says that no man can be justified by the law. The law condemns and it kills. It doesn’t justify but we are justified by believing in Christ, who is God our righteousness. That’s the true righteousness of God. In case someone thinks, I know we read in the Bible people’s life and you may have a copy of the book that got wrote through me, The True Story for God’s Glory: The Life of Siohvaughn L. Funches-Wade. You may see in reading that book, having finished that book, you’re knowing in hindsight.
We must remember myself, Noah, and anyone else that’s a child of God didn’t have hindsight. God spoke to them. They believe what God said. They did. They move like the Bible says even was divinely warned of something that he could not see with his natural eyes. Don’t be discouraged or don’t think of it like they knew what you know because you read the entire story already. They had not read their life story already. I had not read all of my life stories up into when that book ends. I’m moving by faith like Noah was moved by faith and promise after promise was manifested, miracle after miracle, sign after sign, wonder after wonder hunting me down and overtaking me. That was simply believing God because not only did I not see what God was talking about in the natural, the devil was putting things in the natural that were contrary or opposite of what God promised.
God promised Joseph that he would a leader. He gave him a couple of dreams then confirmed him another one. The Bible says when God does that something speaking to you twice, the word is established and it will happen quickly. God had given Joseph two dreams. The word was for sure established. It was a certain thing from God that he would be a leader. That’s the interpretation of those dreams. However, Joseph was turned into a slave. Look like the next thing on his to-do list was to become a slave. We know a slave is the very bottom. That’s the furthest away from leadership but Joseph believed the dreams God gave him and he kept persevering, he didn’t give up, and he kept believing.
We know that because Joseph had every reason to dismay yet he didn’t. The Bible doesn’t have to spell out for you that Joseph moved in faith. You can tell by what he was doing, what he was not knowing and he was believing God. He knew the Lord was with them even Egyptians who worship other gods and had nothing to do with Yahweh, nothing to do with our Abba Father, and Jesus Christ. They even knew that the Lord was with him. It was obvious that God was with him. If you’re saying I have only a word from God, nothing in my life appears like this is happening or even going to happen, especially not anytime soon. In fact, the opposite is occurring. Still don’t get discouraged and still believe God and prepare for your blessing.
God was telling us a little bit and Noah did that and he was not ashamed. He was saved. His family was saved from death and nothing less than death and utter destruction. God was telling us to be ready and not fear disappointment because sometimes people, God says, “Get ready,” and they said, “I want to get ready.” They feel good. It’s a lot of feel-good going on. That spirit of fear will come and try to say like, “What if it doesn’t happen?” You’re going to look like crazy. You bought this and then it never happens. The devil was going tries to get us all to walk in absolute opposite directions of where God is leading us because wherever God leads us to there’s provision, there are breakthroughs, there’s a promise, and there’s easy receiving of the promises and the devil doesn’t want you to receive. God does.
God was saying don’t fear disappointment or shame. The Bible was filled with scriptures. God promising that when you put your hope in Him, you have that confident expectation of good in Him. That’s what Bible hope is. You will not be disappointed, you will not be disgraced and you will not be put to shame but the one scripture I felt interesting. God brought us full circle with this Isaiah 54 passage of scripture where He started this series off with and now towards the end. The conclusion part of it, He got us back there again.
God was telling us in Isaiah 54:2, “Enlarge the place of your tent.” This is the preparation part. This is God’s instruction to us now. Remember His word is from everlasting to everlasting and we read it in light of Jesus Christ and what He’s done. We always read it through the lens of God’s love, His grace, He’s the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. That’s how God puts a new covenant spinner. He draws out because the new cover was always the end game for God. That’s how He can draw that out even when you’re reading the Old Testament, but make sure you do that.
Isaiah 54:2-5 says, “Enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings. Do not spare. Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes because you shall expand to the right and left and your descendants will inherit the nations and make the desolate cities inhabited.” In other words, God is saying, “Not only will I do what I promised but also I’ll exceed your expectations.” Remember, He’s the God who does more exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ever ask for, think or imagine. I love it that God tells us to prepare. In this particular passage of scripture, there’s so much depth to the word of God. We’ve yet probably had even scratched the surface because it is as deep as God. The word is God but He has revealed to us a lot.
When it says enlarge the place of your tent, God was unveiling some new covenant truths to us. He was doing it through the life of Sarah and the old covenant truths through the life of Hagar. If you know that story with Abraham and Sarah having the promised seed Isaac, and then Abraham and Sarah concocting some terrible idea for him to sleep with Hagar. Sarah’s maidservant who is Hagar was not his wife Sarah was and they had a child, Ishmael. Ishmael wasn’t the promised child that was born out of the flesh and that represents the law and that’s a man trying to make themselves righteous by a bunch of do’s and don’ts. We have Sarah, the new covenant of grace where God confers righteousness upon man which is the righteousness of God.
The other righteousness God calls filthy menstrual rags. That’s disgusting. We don’t want to have anything to do with filthy menstrual rags as our garment of righteousness. I love that God put this here, but it doesn’t mean that unless you’re waiting to have a promised child from God that God isn’t speaking to you. You’re believing God to give birth to like Abraham and Sarah were believing God to conceive and give birth to Isaac, that was their promise. They had to conceive that. They had to be conceived in their heart and they had them eventually then give birth to that. It’s the same with any promise that we’re believing God for starting off barren in a sense like you don’t have it like Sarah didn’t have it.
Abraham and Sarah didn’t have the ability in and of themselves to make it happen. We can do nothing apart from God. We don’t have the ability to do that. We need God, a savior, and His help. We’re in desperate need because apart from Him, we can do nothing. It’s that simple. This is relevant for you no matter what you’re believing God for. That’s the point I’m making there. I love how God showed me not only did he tell them to prepare where He uses words like, “You shall expand to the right and to the left.” God is telling you to prepare for a reason because He shall do whatever He promised. He will do that. There’s a reason for preparing.
God doesn’t deal with doing things in vain. He said unless the Lord builds the house, the labor is labor in vain, which is why we let God fight for us. Unless the Lord fights the battle, anything even remotely seemingly a victory will be in vain. We’ll back on the battlefield again, what my mom always refers to as the hamster wheel. You’ll be going another spout around that wilderness. No question. It was best to turn it over to God and let Him do the fighting for you. Let Him do the conception for you. Let Him do the birth thing through you and things like that. I love how God ties this particular scripture together with what He’s been telling us, don’t allow the enemy to rob you of true faith. Don’t allow the enemy to rob you of being ready when God shows up through fear, through these hypothetical scenarios. That’s how God told me you’ll notice the spirit of fear. He always speaks hypothetically. What if this happens? What if God doesn’t do it? What if your shame? What if no one believes you?
Some of you are from Chicago, this whole thing I’m talking about makes sense to you. They say, “If was a fifth, we’d all be drunk.” No one wastes their time or spend their time on this what-if thing. We don’t have time for that. We need certainties. We have to put our feet on solid ground. We are on Jesus Christ. That’s why I got referred to Him is that not the waves of the sea or the wind-tossed to here and from, but He’s the rock. That’s why Jesus went from He renamed Peter, he was once a Reed. That’s any way the wind blows you. You’re moving. You need something more solid. God said, “Upon this rock, I’ll build my church.” Not upon this reed, not this up and down emotional roller-coaster type of living situation or faith situation.
You believe God, you stay firm in that and let God plant your feet firmly on the rock Jesus Christ which will not be moving and not disappoint. I love how God took this particular passage of scripture in Isaiah 54 and it all ties together. This preparation and this fear, I had never seen that before. I can’t even begin to tell you the number of times I’ve read Isaiah 54. You’re probably going to say, “We’ve heard you say these many times,” but it’s one of my favorite passages of scripture. I’m compelled to say that because it’s true. I have meditated on it and everything but not until God got ready to feed me and then feed through me to you all did I get this particular revelation. That right in the same breath, that God says, “Prepare.” He also says, “Do not fear because you won’t be ashamed.”
I never put the two together but I can recall at least and spend quite some time in the word of God, but I’ve not seen that I remember. God starts off telling us to enlarge the place of our tent. That’s the preparation. A couple of verses later, He says, “Do not fear because you will not be ashamed, neither be disgraced for you will not be put to shame. For you will forget the shame of your youth and would not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.” That widowhood representing that place where you didn’t have it. That place where maybe the enemy mocked you saying, “How old are you? You’re still not married. You still believe in God for that husband.” That place right there.
That place where he wants to try to reproach the living God by reproaching you like when they had Goliath standing there and the Bible says by trying to reproach God by reproaching Israel being like, “He’s this big, scary, giant. Who’s going to come to fight him?” He’s looking at King David who wasn’t King yet. He’s like, “You’re going to come at me with sticks. What do you think I’m a dog?” He’s mocking and throwing reproach and doing all kinds of evil things. He’s talking a lot of crap. If you know anything about bullies, if you’ve been in elementary school, you feel me on this. Bullies always talk a lot of crap.
It’s always way more bark than it bites. A lot of times you’ll find out they don’t even have teeth. They want to gum you to death so don’t have a heart attack. They don’t have teeth to bite, especially not the devil. God defanged that idiot. He for sure doesn’t have teeth. He’s all bark and no bite. He wants you to maybe bite yourself or have a heart attack thinking he’s going to bite you and you keel over. He has no teeth. He doesn’t even have dentures like God won’t let him buy those either. He can’t even have fake teeth. It’s a bad done deal for that dude. I love how God ties up those particular scriptures together and they were always there. God was always saying that in the same breath prepare because I will do everything I promise.
Don’t fear because He knows what was coming next but God, “Don’t fear.” He doesn’t say don’t fear. God is good. If He tells you don’t fear, there’s nothing to fear. God is good knowing our humanity, knowing that in the flesh there’s weakness. God is loving, tender, and thoughtful. There’s nothing He hasn’t thought off. There’s no way and there’s no situation you could ever find yourself in where God’s provision has not preceded the problem. This provision was there before that problem of the what-if or the fear came or not knowing what to do when the waiting room. This was always here. These scriptures were always here. The revelation was always there. God is revealing it to us and you’re wise enough to take the time to get at Jesus’ feet and let Him, hear His word and hear what He has to say. You are wise.
If you’re somebody reading this and you’re like, “I didn’t even graduate from high school or I didn’t even graduate from the eighth grade.” You’re wise. There may be things you need to know in the books that’ll make you smarter but when it comes to wisdom, you are walking in it. I would rather have wisdom than intelligence any day. Intelligence only takes you so far but wisdom will get you all the way home. It’ll have you bring in a bunch of souls with you. I’d rather be wise as simple as that but God doesn’t make us choose, He gives us both. I love it. I don’t want to go into this next one because it’ll take a little bit more time to expand on it.
I’m maybe going to stop and pray with you guys but there is a reason why God tells us not to fear, not to be ashamed, and instead of making us take His word at it because let’s be honest, He is the truth and he cannot lie. God cannot lie. The Bible says is not a man that He should lie and Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. It’s like all these reasons to believe Him, but He doesn’t say it and then walk off. He gives us all these reasons why, proves to us why in His word, repeats himself time and time again and tirelessly loves us and gives us whatever it is we need, however many times we need it. I love the love of God. I love the way He loves me and the way He loves you.
May God continue to bless us and keep us until next time and continue to make His face shine upon us and continue to give us specific tailor-made wisdom for the particular things that we are believing God for in our individual life. I pray that it’d be a corporate blessing on the entire body of Christ. I pray God calls you to receive because it’s not the blessing for you and your family. It’s a blessing for all of us, including me. May my miracles bless you all the days of your life. May your miracles blessed me all the days of our life and may they all glorify God first and foremost and glorify Jesus and His wonderful name and His great love with which He loves us in Jesus name we pray and we come in agreement. Until next time, I love you. Thank you for being with me on this journey.
