FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD…

God loves us with an everlasting love

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

I remember a time that as a Christian I thought like this; “God loves me because of what Jesus did for me at the cross.”  God has shown me that some believers still think like this, although it is error…religious tradition, but not the truth of God’s word.  The bible says, “For God so lovedthe world…that He gaveHis only begotten Son.”  The love of God came first, and that is what caused God to give up someone as precious as His only begotten Son for our sakes.  Love did it!  A pre-existing, everlasting, intense love for us did that.  In another part of the Bible it says, “But God-so rich is He in His mercy!  Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation)  (Ephesians 2:4-5 [AMP]).  Yet in another part the word declares, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).  Now, that is the word of God itself.  Not a doctrine, opinion or tradition handed down by man.  It is the unfailing, everlasting, God-breathed word.  All we have to do is agree with God.  Jesus Christ is not the reason God loves us…He is God’s love poured out on us!  Oh…and what a great love it is!  Amen!

So beloved, let’s settle this in our minds once and for all; God doesn’t love me because of Jesus, or Jesus’ sacrifice, He loves me because of who He is…God is love (1 John 4:8).  Therefore, don’t be afraid to embrace the Father, or spend time with Him alone, because all that’s waiting for you when you do this is His love, mercy, help, blessings and all that is good and perfect!  No judgment is waiting for you.  The believer doesn’t come under God’s judgment (John 5:24).  Remember, God doesn’t love you for your rule keeping ability or even because of Jesus…He loves you because that is who He is (God is love) and beloved (loved eternally by the Father) is who you are.  Now, may all the fullness of that truth manifest in every area of your life, and you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers!

“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love…” Jeremiah 31:3

  1. Siohvaughn, thank you so very much for giving us Gods words. His words encourage us. Uplifts us and everything you said rains true. Thank you for doing this blog. Some of us know God. However, our God is so complicated and yet his word and meaning is simple. It is good to be reminded of basic foundation of our God that all is built on. Depending on the season we are in we tend to focus on certain things about God. Because God is so complicated we need to remind each other. So that we all keep every aspect of God’s personality and character fresh in our minds. Thank you for doing that through your blog. Continue. God bless you for this offering in JESUS Christ name amen. To God all the glory, honor and adoration.
