No More Shame!

No More Shame!

“Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.  Therefore in their land they shall posses double; everlasting joy shall be theirs.”  (Isaiah 61:7)

I thank Jesus for everything He did, and refrained from doing, while here on the earth for us.  Every move He made, and refused to make, are significant and all for our benefit.  This is especially true for the things done before He was crucified on the cross, while on the cross and the resurrection.  Today, God wants us to look at something the Lord Jesus did for God’s children right before He was crucified; Jesus bore all our shame and gave us His honor.  Remember the greatest exchanges in history took place via the cross, Jesus’ sufferings, His crucifixion and resurrection from the dead. For example, the bible says Jesus became poor that through His poverty we might be rich  (2 Corinthians 8:9).  Jesus was also humiliated, and had shame cast upon Him for our sake…in our place, and in exchange He bestowed upon us His honor  (Matthew 27:27-31 & Isaiah 61:7).  We have been delivered from shame no matter what we have done…even if we have done it repeatedly.  Peter is an example of this truth. Let me tell you more…

While meditating on the word of God in Acts, the Lord showed me why it is so important that we know and believe that Jesus bore our shame, and we no longer have to.  In Acts chapter 3, Peter, whom Jesus called to preach the Gospel, was correcting the Jews of that day who had denied Jesus, in order for them to repent (Matthew 16:18 & Acts 3:12-14) Now, many of you know that Peter had denied Jesus too…multiple times, and with swearing and cursing  (Matthew 26:69-75).  Some would have said Peter ought to be ashamed of what he did, denying Jesus, and the last person to correct these people, but thanks be to Jesus who restored Peter, assuring him that He bore that shame for him so that he can go boldly and deliver people from the very thing that he had to be delivered from (John 21:15-17).  The Lord is assuring us the same thing He did Peter; we are indeed free from shame.  So go out beloved in the boldness of what Christ has done for you, and as He leads you, help those in need…even those who need to be delivered from the very thing Jesus delivered you from!

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame.”  (Joel 2:26).
