Not Guilty!

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” (Hebrews 8:12) not-guilty-2-638

When a convicted prisoner’s sentence has been served, he is free to leave out of that prison that once held him captive, and he is no longer subject to the punishment and consequences therefrom.   That’s because his sentence has been served and justice has been done. Jesus does something very similar for every believer, but even greater.  As a believer we have all sinned…broken the law.  The wages of sin (lawlessness) is death (Romans 6:23). Death is the sentence for the lawlessness of sin, but because the gift of God is eternal life; Jesus has set every believer (who has undoubtedly sinned) free from the prison of sin, which once held us captive, and free from all the judgment, punishment and curses therefrom (Romans 6:23 & Galatians 3:13).  Jesus took our guilty place at the cross and served our sentence, by bleeding and dying in our stead for the forgiveness of every sin we have, and ever will commit  (Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 Peter 2:24).  Every son and daughter of God is free indeed from the prison of sin and all the curses therefrom, because the Son of God set us free… and whomever the Son of God sets free, is free indeed (John 8:36). This is great news!  The problem, however, is that the devil has convinced some believers to remain in prison and receive the punishment and condemnation therefrom, as if Christ never bled, died and rose again from the dead for their sakes.  The devil wants the children of God to serve a sentence, despite the fact that our sentence has already been completely served, the punishment completely paid and the just Judge (God) has judged our entire lives, and entered His holy verdict based on what Jesus did for us, finding every believer: Not guilty!  We are not declared by God, a holy Judge, not guilty because we do no wrong.  Again, we are declared, “not guilty” by God because Jesus took our guilty place at the cross, died in it, and rose from the dead justifying us!  (Romans 4:25).  But despite this truth, some are not enjoying the freedom Jesus gave, because they don’t know the truth, while others are not experiencing this freedom, because they have been erroneously taught to live under the old covenant of law…a ministry of death (which God Himself said He found fault with, and Jesus made obsolete) (2 Corinthians 3:17 & Hebrews 8:8-13).  The devil has tried with everything in him to condemn the children of God for something Jesus was condemned already in their place  (Galatians 3:13).  This should not be so.  Believers, Jesus set you free from the prison of sin, and every curse therefrom, and the unfailing word of your heavenly Father who loves you, and cannot lie, declares: Whomever the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).  Beloved, you are free….free indeed! Free from guilt, free from condemnation, free from the law under the old covenant that has passed away, because Jesus fulfilled it, and you are free from serving an already completely served sentence.  Don’t dare serve another day in any prison of guilt, shame or condemnation, because Jesus did that for you, and God has declared you “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Refuse to believe a lying devil, and your own conscience if need be, and instead believe Jesus, who is the Truth (John 14:6). Believer’s lets get in agreement with God once and for all, acknowledge fully all of what Jesus had done for us at the cross, and receive His abundance of grace, and His gift of righteousness, so that we can reign in life like our Father promised us! (Romans 5:17).  Let’s celebrate and rejoice in the fact that God has declared us, “Not guilty!”

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.” (Romans 4:7-8).
