NO MAN; NO PROBLEM!

hqdefault“I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. I have declared and saved…” (Isaiah 43:11-12).

I have learned from the Lord how powerful it is to take a moment and reflect on this truth: God is God all by Himself, beside Him there is no other, and He alone saves! God is sovereign and all power is His possession. This sovereign Savior, Jesus, loves you and He is for you…and that is truly all you need for this life and the next. Knowing and believing this truth is incredibly important, because God does use people to help us from time to time, but as humans we sometimes are tempted to believe that we need mankind to save us, deliver us or help us. The truth is, we need God, and Him alone. Again, God chose from very early on to use mankind as His vessels, that He both moves and speaks through, but we are not to confuse that with a lack of sovereignty on God’s part. This becomes especially important whenever God removes mankind from the equation altogether in our lives, and helps us without the use of people. This can be very scary to the flesh, especially if God has been using people as His means to help you. There is no reason to fear, however. The absence of mankind does not equate to the absence of God, and it certainly doesn’t mean God is not self-sufficient to provide you with all that you need, above all that you ask. This truth is demonstrated throughout the bible, and is something I had to learn by walking it out in my own life when God removed all human help from me. My initial reaction was full-blown fear, but I am glad God didn’t remove the lesson from me, because it has completely transformed my entire life…inside and out! The good news for you is that God is not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). Thus, what He did for me, and many throughout the bible; He is most willing and able to do for you too.

The Lord taught me something vital during the time in my life when He removed all human help from me, and I pray I never forget it. God taught me, “If you don’t have it; it is because you don’t need it!” I assure you my life hasn’t been the same for the better since hearing God utter those powerful words. I realized that whatever I don’t have, at any moment in my life, is because I don’t need it!   This truth includes mankind too. Mary, the mother of Jesus, believed this truth and one of the most miraculous things happened both in, and through her. One day the angel Gabriel came to Mary and announced to this unmarried virgin that she was going to be pregnant…with the Son of God (Luke 1). Mary’s initial reaction was, “How can this be, since I don’t know a man” (Luke Chapter 1:34, Bold mine).   The word God gave Mary in response to her sincere question then, is the same word He gives us today when God does the miraculous in our lives without any involvement from man. He told her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you…(Luke Chapter 1:35). In other words, God was telling Mary (as well as us) that, He alone will make the miracle needed happen, and He doesn’t need a man to help do it! Mary’s response to God’s word then, is what ours should be. She responded, “Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). In other words Mary said, “Amen!” She didn’t have to understand everything, or figure it out; she just believed God at His word! Mary responded with faith, knowing and believing that God is God all by Himself, and even if she didn’t have a man to help her with what seemed impossible without mankind, she still believed God would get it done. The result? Mary supernaturally became pregnant, and not just with any child, but with the Messiah, Jesus Christ! Like Mary, we too, have to know and believe that with God all things are possible, and although God uses mankind sometimes, He is still God all by Himself (Isaiah 44:6).

We see another example in the bible of God moving without mankind, although it appeared as though man was needed for the miracle to manifest. The Holy Spirit records for us in the bible that there was a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years, who would lie near the pool of Bethesda in order to be healed (See John 5). He did this because there was an angel who would stir the waters at a certain time, and whoever went into the waters first got healed of whatever infirmity they had (John 5:4). One day Jesus approached this man, and asked him if he wanted to be healed (John 5:6). The cripple responded saying, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool…” (John 5:7, Bold mine). Jesus, the Healer, said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk” and the man immediately did just as Jesus said (John 5:8-9). This man lay in his condition for 38 years thinking and believing he needed a man to help him, when all he needed was Jesus! Jesus response to that once cripple man is where today’s message comes from: If you have “no man” to help you, the Lord is saying, “No problem!” Jesus, without the help of any human, healed that man who had been cripple for 38 years…and He did it all by Himself!

In addition to the bible, I learned in my own life that God is indeed more than able to meet my needs without help from any human. This lesson came at a time when I was in the heat of a court case that had already lasted for many years. I kept feeling God was telling me to get rid of the lawyers I had. I was terrified to do that, because I was in a court battle that seemed like getting the best lawyer was the solution to my problem. Well, I had hired several of the purported top lawyers in that state, and the battle went from bad to worse. Finally, I let go and I trusted God to be my lawyer. Within days, this case that had lasted for nearly a decade, went into full-blown mediation mode! Like I said, I was scared to let go and trust God at first, but I am so glad He didn’t shelter me from walking this life-lesson out, because the wisdom and faith I have gained from it is priceless!

Beloved, whatever you have need of; know and believe that it is God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom, and because He is all-powerful He won’t need help from mankind in order to help you (Luke 12:32). Therefore, fear not about what, or whom, you don’t have as help. If you don’t have it, it is because you don’t need it…and if you have no man…no problem!

“…I am the Lord, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself…” (Isaiah 44:24)
