God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 6)

In Part 6 of God Did Not Change His Mind, Dr. Siovaughn Funches Dunham continues a powerful study through the life of David, revealing a critical truth for every believer: God does not require perfection on the path to promise—but He does require presence.

Anchored in Numbers 23:19, this teaching reminds listeners that God is not like man—He does not lie, and He does not change His mind. If God has spoken a promise, He will carry it through, even when the journey feels unbearably long.

David’s Breaking Point: When Grace Meets Human Weakness

After years of unjust persecution by King Saul, David faced exhaustion, disappointment, and emotional overload. Though known for his mercy and restraint, David reached a breaking point in 1 Samuel 25 when a wealthy man named Nabal repaid David’s protection with cruelty and insult.

This moment exposes an often-overlooked reality: even deeply faithful people have moments of rage and frustration. David, overwhelmed by prolonged injustice, resolved to take vengeance into his own hands—until God intervened.

God’s Grace Is Greater Than Our Worst Moments

This episode delivers a profound takeaway:
God does not demand flawless behavior, but He does call believers to stay on the path.

David made mistakes. He felt anger. He nearly acted in rage. Yet God’s promise remained intact because David stayed present—open to correction, responsive to God, and willing to turn back.

Grace did not excuse the moment, but it preserved the mission.

rom Total Loss to Total Recovery

Later, David encountered one of the darkest moments of his life. While living in exile at Ziklag, the Amalekites raided the city, burned it to the ground, and kidnapped the families of David and his men. In their grief, David’s own soldiers turned against him.

Yet Scripture records a powerful turning point: “David strengthened himself in the Lord.”

Instead of quitting, David inquired of God—and God answered with a promise of restoration. David pursued the enemy and recovered everything that had been taken.

This moment reinforces a core truth of the series:
God’s promises outlast devastation, betrayal, and loss.

The Subtle Trap of Settling Too Soon

After Saul’s death, David was crowned king of Judah—but not yet king over all Israel, as God had promised. The temptation to settle early was real. Comfort, relief, and partial fulfillment can quietly replace obedience if believers stop short of God’s full word.

This teaching exposes complacency as another enemy strategy—not rebellion, but contentment that stops progress.

God’s promises are never just personal; they are meant to bless others. Stopping early affects more than one life.

Keep Going—God Has Not Changed His Mind

Part 6 closes with a reminder that resonates deeply:

  • Provocation is not worth destiny
  • Frustration is not permission to quit
  • Partial fulfillment is not the promise

If God has spoken, He will finish what He started.

The call is simple but powerful: stay present, keep moving, and trust the God who never changes His mind.
