Faith vs. reasoning (Part One)

A Fixed Fight!

The bible makes it very clear that all we have to do in order to receive from God whatever He promised us is to believe. In order to believe, we must have faith. God has given to each one of us a measure of faith  (Romans 12:3).  Additionally, the bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). Therefore, God has given us all some faith, but if you want more faith; faith comes by hearing the word of Christ.

Now, faith is very vital, because it is very powerful.  In fact, faith is so powerful that Jesus said, if you have as much faith as a mustard seed, you can say to a mountain be removed, and it will move (Matthew 17:20). The Lord knows the power of faith, we know it too…but unfortunately the enemy has a clue regarding it.  This is why when God gives a word of promise to someone; the enemy immediately comes to take the word out of their heart via doubt and unbelief.  The enemy often uses reasoning as a means to accomplish this end: The person with the promise doubts, instead of believes, and they give up a sure promise that the enemy had no power to stop from happening, due to their unbelief.

Reasoning is a means the enemy uses, because reasoning always precedes and produces fear…and fear can literally be paralyzing.  God can be instructing someone to move forward because the answer to their prayer is in front of them, but instead of moving forward, they stay in the place of complacency due to fear of the unknown road God told them to travel.

Additionally, often times faith and reasoning cannot co-exist. Generally, you must choose to use human reasoning, or mountain-moving, God-ordained, faith. This is true becausereasoning and faith are antagonistic to one another. Reasoning almost always makes sense to the human mind, but reasoning doesn’t make miracles…which is what a lot of us need! Reasoning says if it doesn’t make sense, it will never be made. Faith says if it doesn’t make sense, it makes miracles! Reasoning says why it can never happen. Faith says it is already finished! Reasoning is rooted in pride, believing what it thinks to be true, while counting the promise of God as foolishness. Faith is the greatest manifestation of humility, forsaking all human intellect and relying only on what our sovereign God says! Reasoning says if I cannot figure it out, it isn’t possible. Faith says, surely with God all things are possible, and God doesn’t need my understanding to be a condition precedent to His promise being fulfilled in my life! Reasoning lives in the realm of the senses, where whatever can be seen, heard, or felt is true. Faith lives in the heavenly realm, knowing that whatever God said is true! Reasoning almost always looks rational, while faith can look totally unorthodox to the human mind.  I have concluded that it is better to look full of faith in front of God, than it is to look reasonable in front of man, who cannot provide what you need anyway.  Jesus has made the way plain to us…only believe.  Faith is the key that Jesus gave to unlock every door of blessings; while He counts human reasoning as nothing!  In other words, faith triumphs over reasoning every time, because faith, not reasoning, is the God-ordained way to receive every promise God made you!

Always remember, God’s ways are not our ways…but His ways are best (Isaiah 55:8-9). God said it like this, it is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God for those who believe! (1 Corinthians 1:18). Also, God puts to shame and resists reasoning (human wisdom and logic) because it’s rooted in pride (1 Corinthians 1:19). The Lord, however, supplies grace to the humble and honors those who believe in Him (1 Peter 5:5). Additionally, the Word of God says, “Few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world; things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God” (1 Corinthians 1:26-29). Therefore, let us always remember what God says about these matters, count it as the truth, and receive all He has for us, because when we do that; are lives, and the whole world is impacted for the better!
