God Has Not Changed His Mind (Part 5)

Welcome back to The One Thing That’s Needful podcast. I’m Dr. Siovaughn Funches Dunham, and in this episode, we continue our journey through one powerful, unshakable truth: God has not changed His mind about what He promised you.

Before diving into the message, we begin—as always—by acknowledging God and inviting Him to open the eyes of our understanding. Scripture reminds us that wisdom, revelation, and clarity flow from knowing Jesus. When His Word becomes a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, we are never left without direction, even when circumstances feel overwhelming.

God Is Faithful to His Word

Our anchor scripture throughout this series comes from Numbers 23:19, which tells us plainly that God does not lie, nor does He change His mind. What He speaks, He performs. What He promises, He fulfills. God is faithful—not only to us—but to His Word, because His Word reflects who He is.

Yet despite knowing this truth, many believers wrestle with doubt when life doesn’t align with what God has spoken. That tension between promise and process is where faith is tested—and where the enemy attempts to sow confusion.

Lessons from the Life of David

In this episode, we look closely at the life of King David, whose story vividly illustrates this struggle. David was anointed king, yet his journey to the throne was anything but smooth. Instead of immediate fulfillment, he faced betrayal, false promises, jealousy, attempted murder, and years of living as a fugitive.

From King Saul’s relentless pursuit to the wilderness years spent hiding in caves, David’s life often appeared to be moving in the opposite direction of God’s promise. And yet—God had not changed His mind.

David’s story teaches us something vital: facts may change, but God’s Word does not. Circumstances fluctuate. Opposition intensifies. Delays stretch longer than expected. Still, none of these invalidate what God has spoken.

Guarding Your Heart in the Waiting

One of the most powerful revelations in this episode is David’s refusal to let external hardship corrupt his internal posture. Despite having multiple opportunities to take matters into his own hands, David chose to trust God’s timing instead of seeking revenge or shortcuts.

Scripture tells us to guard our hearts above all else because everything flows from it. Jealousy, fear, and bitterness destroyed Saul—but humility, trust, and reverence preserved David. Even while under pressure, David refused to harden his heart or compromise his faith.

This is a reminder for all of us: waiting does not mean God has changed His mind—it means He is still working.

Encouragement for Your Own Journey

If you’ve been believing God for something and the road feels long… if opposition has increased… if facts seem to contradict faith—this message is for you. The same God who fulfilled His promise to David is faithful to fulfill His promises to you.

God is not distracted. He is not delayed. He is not reconsidering.
He has not changed His mind.

Stay rooted. Guard your heart. Keep your eyes on Him—not on the shifting facts. What God has spoken will come to pass.

Thank you for reading and for continuing this journey with us on The One Thing That’s Needful. May faith rise as you sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His Word.
